EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

PROGRAM SUMMARY

The Early Childhood Education program prepares students to support the learning and development of young children from birth through age eight. Students explore the history and current trends in early childhood education while learning how to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and communities from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The program emphasizes relationship-based and trauma-informed practices that promote healthy social and emotional development in young children. Students also learn how to plan and implement age-appropriate learning activities that support early literacy and overall development. Through these experiences, students gain the foundational knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in early learning environments and support young children during their most important years of growth.
