WILDLAND FIRE PROGRAM
PROGRAM SUMMARY
Our Wildland Firefighting Program meets and exceeds the job performance requirements the students will need to be successful as a Wildland Firefighter. The teaching objectives are outlined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and National Wildland Coordinating Group (NWCG) standards and are as follows:
- NFPA 1051, Standard for Wildland Firefighting Personnel Professional Qualifications
- NWCG S-190, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
- NWCG S-130, Firefighter Training
- NWCG L-180, Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service
- ICS100, FEMA Incident Command 100
- ICS200, FEMA Incident Command 200
- ICS700, FEMA Incident Command 700
The program will set the foundation for Wildland Firefighter I knowledge and understanding, while introducing wildland fire service history, safety, water supply, and firing operations. Firefighter II encompasses the higher-level competency requirements to prepare and certify the student for Wildland Firefighter II, while focusing on more hands-on.

Wildland Fire Career Opportunities
- If Students in this program complete the Wildland Fire Certification and are at least 18 years old, they will be eligible to apply to the National Forestry Service in the Wildland Division.
Salaries will range based on hiring entity, location, and years of experience.

Class Schedule:
This is a 1 Semester Program that takes place in the Fall. Class Structure is Hybrid Consisting of Online Courses and 4 Field Days 8:00am - 4:00pm
Grade Level Requirement: Juniors and Seniors due to age restrictions
