He chose Medical Assisting for the opportunity to learn how to help others, explore different paths in the medical field, and gain experience that will benefit him as he prepares for college and his future career.
Through the program, Jose has discovered just how detailed and fascinating the medical field truly is. He’s been surprised by the level of organization, memorization, and precision required- and has developed a deeper appreciation for how the human body functions. His favorite part of the program is hands-on experience, including taking vital signs, checking blood pressure and glucose levels, monitoring pulse and respirations, and participating in medical office simulations like scheduling appointments.
Jose plans to attend Northern Arizona University after graduation, where he hopes to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology while exploring which medical specialty best fits his goals. He also plans to work as a Medical Assistant while continuing his education. He credits his parents and family as his biggest inspiration, encouraging his passion and drive to succeed.
This program has helped Jose grow tremendously- not only in knowledge, but in perspective. He’s learned to better understand patients, think critically about their needs, and approach healthcare with compassion and open-mindedness. His advice to future students? “Be creative, stay positive, care about your patients, and always keep an open mind.” He believes CTE is a powerful way to get an early start on your future, explore opportunities, and build a strong foundation for success.
