CTE is a broad term for Education that combined academic and technical skills with a knowledge and training needed in today's labor market today more than ever employers want to hire entry-level employee who can hit the ground running this is where Career and Technical education CTE comes in in recent years he has expanded dramatically in the US about twelve million high school and college students are enrolled in CTE programs Across the Nation 350,000 or 44% of these students are in at least one of the state CTE approved programs students attend a program while attending their high school or by attending one of the 14 Career and Technical education districts also known as CTED's whether in a program at their high school or while attending a CTED all programs students for the workplace in a manner that replicates the workforce environment students that I've learned highly specialized technical skills by the end of their CTE or CTED programs are also eligible to earn industry certification these certifications and skills can be used for all students who want to attend a four-year College Plan to combine work and learning at a community college or who intend to enter the labor market directly. Every day students in schools or in a CTED in Arizona are receiving academic and technical skills and certifications in traditional Pathways like automotive repair culinary arts and construction additionally todays students in school or in a seat at our also participate and highly technical programs that cover Health Sciences engineering entrepreneurship cloud computing cyber and computer science and many other fields Career Education enhance a traditional learning by giving students the opportunity I need to have a deeper understanding of the content they're being taught it allows students to apply their learning and real-world setting that allows them to get industry certifications to give them a leg up to the workforce students who complete a CTE program course sequence have a graduation rate of 97.4% as compared to those students who don't participate in CTE programs have a graduation rate of 79% high quality CTE programming aligns curriculum with industry validated standard providing Hands-On instruction as well as work-based learning experiences that enable students to apply their skills it contextualizes learning and Industry and workplace settings to spark students creativity and a sense of possibility I can't think another educational system other than CTE that allows students from all different parts of our communities to come into a classroom together and learn to problem-solve team build collaborate and really understand what it means to be successful in the workplace environment gives me confidence that we're developing young men and women who are going to be the fabric of our state's economy but also going to be the kind of individuals that we want to live next to and I think that's what CTE does it builds the workforce but it also builds a community that we can be proud of
