JUSTICE STUDIES
The Criminal Justice program gives students a strong foundation in how crime, law, and society connect. Students explore how American criminal law developed from its English roots to today’s legal system, and how history, culture, politics, and social change shape the way laws are created and enforced. Through real-world examples and current events, students analyze crime trends, criminal behavior, and the impact crime has on individuals, families, and communities.
The program also looks closely at why people commit crimes by studying theories of criminal behavior, psychology, neuroscience, and social influences. Students learn about victimology, crisis response, juvenile justice, and the ethical questions that come up in modern law enforcement and the courts. By the end of the program, students have a deeper understanding of crime, justice, and the systems designed to protect society and support victims.
