Before becoming an educator, Robert spent years helping communities in remote areas build structures and run water systems—learning to “make things happen with less.” His journey has taken him through more than 30 countries across Central and South America and Asia, where he worked as an interpreter and translator, collaborated with architects, and managed projects for the City of Prescott and local builders. Those hands-on experiences shaped his deep understanding of construction—from drafting blueprints to managing large-scale remodels, including several local facilities and even the CTEC campus itself.
Now in his second year of teaching construction at MICTED, Robert brings that global experience into the classroom, guiding students through everything from framing and masonry to reading plans and applying building codes. His students recently built and framed a practice house on campus and are preparing for SkillsUSA competitions. This spring, he’ll be expanding the program to include basic residential plumbing. Known for his constant encouragement, Robert loves watching his students light up when they realize what they’re capable of—often reminding them to “keep moving forward” and to focus on what’s ahead. His philosophy is simple yet powerful: build with purpose, learn by doing, and take pride in creating something you can call your own.
